YUMADOME

Dec 30, 2001

Here is the lower stairs. Actually, this is the temporary lower stairs. These turned out the wrong size so they are being remade as I type this. They should be at the dealers this week (if the holidays don't interfere) and hopefully installed not too long after that. These beautiful stairs aren't going to go to waste though, we will be able to use this set outside and they will really add class to our front deck on the second floor. We were planning on building our own stairs for the outside and could never have managed something this nice. It's hard to believe from this picture that it's only 12' down!

As you can see, the dome is finally growing windows and doors! That's Tim up there in the catbird seat working on Crystal's front window. Is she ever going to have a view!

These 'dormers' (or is that domers in this case?) take much longer to build than I would ever have believed. Even the small ones take a couple days to get close to weatherproof, let alone actually finished.

btw, the gray stain in the middle there is from a concrete spill when we were pouring floors. I guess that's a good sign for when we go to stucco the outside... concrete seems to stick really well!

I didn't try for the fancy panoramic shot here but I think these three give you a pretty good feel for the atrium of the place. These were taken in early December. As of now, the third floor drywall is nearly complete and all three balconies are textured and painted to match the rest of the atrium.
