Below you can see the information we posted about the first
ever Yuma Dome open house.
It went really well. We had a bunch of people come and visit
with us. I wish we could have had the stairs in place to make
access easier for people who wanted to see the second floor but
it wasn't to be.
I hope to be able do this again in the future as we definitely
considered it a success. We only had a few people who were unhappy
and that was because they couldn't see the second floor as they
were unable to climb the ladder. I tried to avoid this by making
sure the newspaper explained that we were still a work in progress
but it's not a big deal. The situation was dealt with and I don't
think anyone left mad.
There was a nice write-up in the paper a day or two after the
event. If I can get a copy of the pictures they published I may
be able to post them here. There was a nice shot looking down
on the crowd of people we had in the atrium.
OPEN HOUSE
October 20, 2001
Hear ye, Hear ye!
In cooperation with the Monolithic
Dome Builders Association (MDBA)
We will be joining the Dome
Open House from
10AM - 4PM on October 20, 2001
The public is welcome to
come and see the progress on our home.
As anyone who has been following
along knows, the dome is not complete yet so please don't be disappointed
by expecting a complete furnished home this year. The MDBA plans
for this to be an annual event and at present, we expect to be
a regular participant.
For those of you who are interested
in learning more, we will have various information available about
the use, construction, and variety of Monolithic Domes.
There will be a $5 charge for
attending. In the future this will be used to cover cleaning costs
after the event. This year it will be for cleaning up before the
event. (Ahh, the fun of a construction site!)
